International Rectifier

Founded in 1947, IR (International Rectifier, acquired by Infineon) is an established manufacturer of power semiconductors. Over the past fifty years, International Rectifier has set many world firsts in the semiconductor industry: - 1958 release of the first commercial Zener diode and solar cell - 1959 first to introduce silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) - 1962 first to develop the epitaxial process for the production of the industry's most stable high-voltage SCRs - 1974 use of glass passivation process to produce Power transistors and high power Darlington tubes in 1974 using glass passivation process - Sold the first hexagonal-celled power MOSFET in 1979 - Released the first smart power IC and the first high-voltage power IC in 1983 - First to use the 4-mask MOSFET process to produce the fifth generation of HEXFET power in 1996.

IR International Rectifier is a pioneer in advanced power management technology and a global leader in digital, analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, advanced circuit devices, power systems and components. The world's leading manufacturer of computers, home appliances, automobiles, consumer electronics and defense systems uses IR technology to drive the performance and efficiency of its products. Today, power management technology plays a more important role than ever in saving the world's dwindling energy reserves.
